Prime or zoom lens? Which fits your project?

Lenses affect image quality as much as the camera. The first choice is prime (fixed focal length) vs. zoom (variable).

A prime can’t zoom — you move to reframe — but is usually sharper, better in low light and gives nicer bokeh. It’s popular for product teasers and interviews where quality and a cinematic feel come first.

A zoom offers flexibility and speed for events, expos and busy production lines. Primes usually have faster apertures (f/1.4–1.8) for more light and shallower depth; zooms cover a range in one body, easier for fast, handheld work. Many pros carry both and pick per situation.
